This aristocratic beast of burden is a member of the bovine family. Being a native of the Himalayan Mountains (Tibet and Central Asia) the Yak is a "double-coated" animal in the same manner as camels and cashmeres. The soft down undercoat is shed every spring, and was typically gathered by nomads to spin their warm clothing for the next harsh winter. Despite having an extremely short staple length, you will delight in the ease of spinning!
